Review of the safety assessment methodology and consequence analysis in the SR-Site for a spent nuclear fuel repository in Sweden.
This procurement is part of the licensing review for a final repository for spent nuclear fuel at the Forsmark site in Sweden. The work described here mainly concerns review of the SR-Site Safety assessment. The SR-Site covers long-term nuclear safety and radiation protection for the post -closure phase.
The safety assessment methodology part covers e.g. the identification and evolution of features, events and processes (FEPs), formulation of scenarios and derivation of conceptual and mathematical models to assess repository evolution over several hundred thousand years. The review should address methods and concepts used as well as the quality of their application in SR-Site. The consequence analysis part covers the repository source term, radionuclide retardation and transport in the engineered barriers and in the bedrock, as well as migration of radionuclides and dose consequences in the biosphere.
This procurement has been divided into following areas:
1. Key consultant for integration and co-ordination of the safety assessment methodology and consequence analysis
2. Quality assurance review
3. Independent modeling of radionuclide transport
4. Radionuclide chemistry
5. Biosphere dose assessment
